Holly Becker, interiors stylist and founder of the popular blog Decor8, believes in the “natural, handmade approach” when it comes to designing objects. “There’s a big turn towards makers right now,” says the best-selling author. “People want products that they can keep and enjoy – well-crafted chairs, beautiful vases. They’re thinking in the long-term.” That demand for artful functionality is shared by Michaela Carpenter, whose Aspen-based design store Maker + Place has partnered with Sotheby’s for an online sale of hand-crafted ceramics, textiles and more.
