Organised by noted Southern California creative director Howie Idelson and Porsche Factory Team driver Patrick Long, Luftgekühlt is an annual series of Porsche-focused events that brings together more than 5,000 automobile hobbyists, collectors and a cross-generational mix of enthusiasts. To kick off Luftgekühlt’s fourth edition, a cocktail reception was held on 6 May at RM Sotheby’s Culver City offices. In keeping with Luftgekühlt’s mission to bring together “historically significant or interesting cars, both race and street,” RM Sotheby’s displayed a particularly significant selection of air-cooled Porsches for the occasion, offering guests a unique opportunity to view some of the most exciting models participating in Luftgekühlt 4 before the Porsche meet the following day. The reception also marked the launch of the Luftgekühlt Book, a 260-page tome chronicling the first three years of the ever-growing air-cooled happening. Click ahead for images from the evening.
