The evening of 6 November, Sotheby’s Directors Amy Cappellazzo, Lisa Dennison and Chapin Carson hosted a reception and dinner celebrating The Triumph of Painting: The Steven and Ann Ames Collection. The guest of honour was Ann Ames, who together with her late husband, Steven, built an astonishing collection of works by de Kooning, Richter, Ryman and others that combines passion and intellect in equal measure. Among the guests and friends were Leonard Lauder, Denise LeFrak Calicchio, John Calicchio, Antony d’Offay, Richard Armstrong, Adam Weinberg and Jean-Marc Houmard.
