    Several years ago, my dear friend Michele, who used to be the wine director for Blue Hill in NYC, introduced me to Follin-Arbelet. The wines are exactly what I want in a glass of Burgundy – a wine that speaks of its place and is still affordable. My belief is that, among the grands crus of Vosne-Romanée, Romanée St. Vivant is the one to buy if you want to drink very well but aren’t looking to reach for Romanée-Conti or La Tache. This vertical lot would make such a fun wine dinner – hint, hint… —Alex Cubbage

    This is a wine that is not talked about nearly enough! While names like Chave often dominate conversations about Hermitage, Sorrel is a closely kept secret by those in the know. His flagship bottling, Les Gréal, is not to be missed. Over 90 percent of the grapes are sourced from the famous Le Méal vineyard, and the remainder come from Le Greffieux. Le Méal brings richness and power, while Les Greffieux offers a touch of elegance to make for an impactful and impressive bottle. —Alex Cubbage
