S otheby’s Dubai will open its doors following the summer break with a versatile range of thrilling exhibitions and a renovated new gallery space, ready to showcase the spectrum of Sotheby’s international offerings. Masterpieces of Contemporary art, glittering jewels, coveted cutting-edge watches, will all be shared generously under one roof. Our galleries will be hosting exceptional names such as the iconic Andy Warhol, world renowned Italian artist, Alighiero Boetti, and pioneer Lebanese sculptor, Alfred Basbous, just to name a few. We look forward to welcoming you through-out this exciting and busy upcoming period.

Highlights from New York Sales in Dubai

EXHIBITION | 26 - 29 SEPTEMBER

As our first exhibition of the season, we will unveil a six metre-wide masterpiece by Italian artist Alighiero Boetti, alongside a rare and exceptional private collection of Andy Warhol's most legendary and iconic prints. We will also be sharing a selection of Egyptian-themed jewellery celebrating 100 years since the discovery of King Tutankhamen’s tomb, alongside further exceptional examples of jewels and watches, including Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Rolex and F.P. Journe.

Highlights from the London Middle East Sales in Dubai

EXHIBITION | 3 - 7 OCTOBER

As part of our vibrant calendar of exhibitions in Dubai, in early October we will present with an exhibition of treasures from the Middle East – spanning over 1,000 years to the present day. Bringing together rare historic objects from the Islamic world, including a 16th century manuscript valued at £6 million, luminous orientalist paintings depicting the Middle East from the past, alongside Modern and Contemporary Masterworks from the region, including the likes of Paul Guiragossian, Etel Adnan, Mohammed Kazem and Samia Halaby.

Riyadh International Book Fair (RIBF)

EXHIBITION | 29 SEPTEMBER - 8 OCTOBER

Sotheby’s will participate for the first time in the Riyadh International Book Fair 2022 (RIBF), a principal cultural event. As one of the most important book fairs in the region, RIBF falls under the patronage of The Literature, Publishing & Translation Commission within the cultural bodies of the Saudi Ministry of Culture. Part of the collaboration involves Sotheby’s travelling a selection of rare books, manuscripts, photographs and objects to exhibit, including a monumental globe, with exceptional provenance, which will also be available for Private Sale. Sotheby’s experts will be in attendance to carry out valuations and are included in the programming of panel discussions and lectures on a variety of topics.

Private Sale Pop-Up, Dubai

SELLING EXHIBITION IN DUBAI | 17 OCTOBER - 4 NOVEMBER

Sotheby’s Dubai is pleased to present an exclusive selling exhibition of rare Hermès and Chanel handbags, as well as jewellery by contemporary designer, Gaelle Khouri. Gaelle Khouri is a philosopher and architectural designer of jewellery whose artistic interest was piqued while working in New York under Oscar De La Renta and Elie Saab. Complementing our luxury offerings, we will also be exhibiting sensational photography by talented Middle Eastern photographers Lalla Essaydi and Youssef Nabil.

Modernist Pioneer: Alfred Basbous

SELLING EXHIBITION IN DUBAI | 7 - 25 NOVEMBER

Alfred Basbous was a major Lebanese pioneer of Modernist sculpture, influenced by Jean Arp, Brancusi, and Henry Moore, Basbous created stone and bronze sculptures of often monumental proportions. We are thrilled to be hosting a Selling Exhibition of his rare sculptors and drawings in our space.
