Old Master Paintings Sales at Sotheby's

DECEMBER 2018
This December’s Old Masters sales are highlighted by a tender study of a young man by Rembrandt, painted in the circa 1650, which until earlier this year hung in the parlour at the Rembrandthuis in Amsterdam and one of Sir Anthony Van Dyck’s greatest late works: his portrait of the young Charles, Prince of Wales (the future King Charles II), in armour. Also included is Dr Erika Pohl-Ströher’s (1919-2016) celebrated collection of portrait miniatures, considered among the greatest ever assembled and formed over a period of nearly forty years, between 1978 and 2016.
