A s the recent unprecedented times have reminded us to celebrate life and brought a new appreciation for beautiful, timeless craftsmanship, Sotheby’s is launching this autumn a new series of luxury sales celebrating Europe’s Epicurean art de vivre entitled “Life is Beautiful” alongside our Jewel, Watch, Wine and Spirits sales. The first iteration will be The Luxury Edit: London, presented in partnership with NET-A-PORTER.
The Life is Beautiful sales, organised consecutively in London, Cologne, Paris and Milan in September and October, will reflect the quintessence of Europe’s luxury tradition. From jewellery and watches to collectors’ cars, handbags, design and decorative arts among other categories, the offering has been curated to showcase the best of the best in the production of each country: iconic objects designed by storied brands, combining rich heritage, impeccable craftsmanship and the unique evocative power of luxury.
The sales will celebrate the European maisons, manufactures, artists and pioneers whose creations have caught the world’s imagination for generations and transcended fashion to create a distinct style. In addition to coveted objects by the most prestigious brands, such as Cartier, Bulgari, Hermès, Graff, Breguet, Lange & Söhne, Ferrari, Citroën and Mercedes-Benz, the selection will include property from eminent British, German, French and Italian collections.

A Week in Paris Dedicated to Luxury
The fall season at Sotheby’s Paris will be devoted to luxury with the launch of two new sale categories: Watches and Handbags. The inaugural Luxury Week Rendez-vous Paris will also include Jewellery and Design sales.
This follows the spring editions that took place in Geneva, New York and Hong Kong, which together generated sales of €160M and attracted over 1,100 buyers, 27% of whom were new clients.
There will be four sales featuring exceptional pieces by Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Vever, Patek Philippe, Charlotte Perriand and Jean Prouvé.
The Luxury Edit: London
Sotheby’s Luxury Edit: London is a curation of September’s best luxury items presented in partnership with NET-A-PORTER. In a series of sales, the exhibition is tailored to the increasing trend of cross-collecting in these categories. This innovative format is a testament to the new definition of luxury. The sale series is highlighted by Life is Beautiful: London alongside the best of Sotheby's Watches and Jewels for the autumn shopping season as well as a curated exhibition of designers and must-have pieces from NET-A-PORTER.

To capture the essence of Europe’s aspirational lifestyle, traveller and photographer Yolanda Edwards will bring her creative eye in an inspiring social media campaign. The founder of luxury travel magazine YOLO Journal and former creative director of Condé Nast Traveler has spent many years of her life on the move, looking for real finds and collecting new, rich experiences.
The photographs documenting her travels in Europe will be used throughout the campaign to shed new light on the objects and brands featured in the ‘Life is Beautiful’ sale series and Sotheby’s new ‘Buy Now’ channels.
