I t’s a New Day Sale at Sotheby’s this month, where, for the first time ever, our traditional November Day sales will be center stage as stand-alone auctions. The Impressionist & Modern Art Day sale will be offered exclusively online, while Contemporary Art Day will offer a live auction on November 17th followed by online auction closing November 18. Featuring artworks at a variety of price points – including some gems one might expect to see in an Evening sale – the auctions also feature fresh, exciting works by artists who have recently been gaining market momentum: in the Contemporary Art Day sale, works by Barkley Hendricks, Titus Kaphar, and Matthew Wong, and in the Impressionist and Modern Art sale, Remedios Varo, László Moholy-Nagy and Pavel Tchelitchew, among many others.
