For Freedoms
For Freedoms
Founded in 2016 by a coalition of artists, For Freedoms is an artist-led organization that centers art as a catalyst for creative civic engagement, discourse, and direct action. They are dedicated to fostering an environment of listening, healing, and justice through a wide range of creative activations with artists, organizations, institutions, and beyond.
In 2018, Hank Willis Thomas and Emily Shur, in collaboration with Eric Gottesman and Wyatt Gallery from For Freedoms restaged Norman Rockwell’s Four Freedoms paintings with a contemporary, inclusive vision of who makes up the United States and what freedom might look like. During Visions of America, For Freedoms will offer three collections of photographs from this series. Each collection starts at $50,000 and proceeds will benefit For Freedoms.
