During its composition, Fleming had considered killing off his famous spy for the third time, after From Russia, With Love and Thunderball, but this time it was for different reasons. Fleming "had become alarmed that his earlier thrillers, designed for an adult audience, were increasingly read in schools...where young people made a hero out of James Bond...He did not regard Bond as a heroic figure 'but only as an efficient professional in his job.' Petrus 1983 Pomerol u. 1bn, 1 label slightly wrinkled, 4 slightly damaged, 2 slightly soiled and slightly damaged, 2 damaged, capsules shows signs of slight corrosion At 40 years old, and on my birthday (wish I was that age again.....), an incredible nose of coffee, blueberries and deep spiciness. On the palate, the motif is a compote of plums with cinnamon - and the mocha persists. Silky smooth, refined class and with a mega Petrus punch of cherries on the finish. Maybe we caught this at its absolute apogee, but who knows with Petrus always working its wizardry. An extraordinary manifestation of Merlot. If Petrus had a voice, it would be the purring bass of Kurt Moll!
