In 1950 the LEC issued their own edition of this. As designed by Bruce Rogers, it is surely one of the finest editions of an American poet issued in the 20th century.A superior copy of an important book.

Proof copies of the first separate edition of the poem A Considerable Speck.&nbsp;<ul><li>Sold as a set of 2&nbsp;single folio sheets.</li><li>Includes one uncorrected page proof of the 33-line poem, without the printed title page, and with printer’s manuscript corrections and directions in red ink; and one final proof copy, with "Original Proof" printed on title-page.</li><li>Robert Frost (American).</li><li>Both copies are uncut on cream woven paper watermarked "HANDMADE”.</li><li>Laid in a custom green cloth chemise.</li></ul> Laid in is a photocopy of the handbill titled “The Colonial Society of Massachusetts” detailing the poem’s history: “This poem was written and delivered by Robert Frost at the Annual Dinner on November twenty-first, 1939. It has been printed by Mr. Dard Hunter, Jr. from the first font of type that he has cut and cast himself, and is one of the first pieces of printing. It is on hand-made paper, made by him and his father, an authority on paper, with whom he is associated at the Dard Hunter Paper Museum at Massachusetts Institute of Technology....” A Considerable Speck was first printed in the Atlantic Monthly in July, 1939. The first separate edition consisted of fewer than 100 copies, according to Crane.

First-edition inscribed copy of Robert Frost's&nbsp;A Witness Tree&nbsp;to his friend, the poet, writer and artist José García Villa. It was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1943, and its most famous poem,&nbsp;The Gift Outright, was read by Frost at John F. There, he joined a community of modernist poets, including e.e. cummings, Marianne Moore and W.H. Auden, among others, and was affectionately known as "The Pope of Greenwich Village." He wrote his poems under the pseudonym Doveglion (a composite of dove, eagle and lion) and was admired, according to Marianne Moore, for "the reverence, the raptness, the depth of concentration in [his] bravely deep poems." His 1933 story collection, Footnote to Youth: Tales of the Philippines and Others, was "the first work of fiction by a Filipino writer published by a major United States-based press." Villa received “numerous honors and awards, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Philippines Heritage Award, a Poetry Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, a Rockefeller Foundation Fellowship and a Shelley Memorial Award. In 1973, he was named a National Artist of the Philippines, and he also served as a cultural advisor to the Philippine government. He died in New York City on February 7, 1997.” This item is final sale and not eligible for return.
