A German re-release <a href="https://www.sothebys.com/en/buy/luxury/collectibles/vintage-poster/film" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">poster</a> for much-loved Ealing classic <a href="https://www.sothebys.com/en/search?query=The%20Man%20in%20the%20White%20Suit&amp;tab=objects&amp;sortBy=bsp_dotcom_prod_en" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">The Man in the White Suit</a>.<ul><li>Hans Hillmann (Polish, 1925-2014).</li><li>Linen backed.</li><li>This work is presented unframed.</li></ul> Hans Hillmann (1925 - 2014), one of the most important Modernist German graphic artists and, considered the founding father of the modern German film poster, designed over 130 film posters between 1953 and 1974 for Walter Kirchner's distribution company Neue Filmkunst. Kirchner hired Hillmann straight out of art school and afforded him incredible freedom to promote the international arthouse classics he distributed in whichever way he chose. This resulted in an impressive body of work and some truly inspiring designs for landmark films such as Akira Kurosawa’s The Seven Samurai and Robert Bresson’s Pickpocket.
