Revenant de voyage, il donne des nouvelles de ses prochaines expositions qui auront lieu en Hollande, puis à Bruxelles au Musée des Beaux-Arts et sans doute à Budapest, Vienne et Berlin. Il serait intéressé par des commandes, publiques ou privées, pour réaliser des fresques, comme celles qu'il a faites pour le théâtre Kamerny à Moscou. Il propose de regarder ce qui a été publié sur lui, notamment un numéro intéressant paru dans Art et Décoration, en mars 1931. [On joint :] BRODSKY, Valentina dite Vava, seconde épouse de Chagall. Lettre autographe signée (en russe) et carte postale autographe signée "Les Chagalls" (carte illustrée d’une toile de Chagall ; en anglais). Elle est désolée de ne pouvoir assister à un spectacle pour raison de santé. Vœux de nouvelle année. KANDINSKY, Vassily. 2 lettres dactylographiées signées au galeriste italien Ghiringhelli, dont une avec apostille autographe. Neuilly sur Seine 3 août 1934 et 9 juin 1935. Une page in-4 (217 x 180 mm) et une page in-8 (148 x 140 mm) au verso d’un carton d'exposition organisée par Yvonne Zervos. Il lui demande s’il a déjà envoyé des gouaches et dessins, ne les ayant pas encore reçus. En 1935, il est question d’expositions, de celle qu’il espère pouvoir faire chez Ghiringhelli et de celle qui a lieu à Paris durant l’été, puis de son premier livre Über das Geistige in der Kunst [Du spirituel dans l'art, publié en 1912] et qui avait eu un très grand succès en Allemagne : "Il n’a rien perdu de son actualité et donne des réponses sur des questions qui sont tout à fait modernes aujourd’hui". Et Kandinsky ajoute de sa main : "Je suis très content que vous avez organisé l’exposition de Willi Baumeister". [On joint :] signature autographe sur un fragment d’une lettre dactylographiée. LÉGER, Fernand. 2 lettres autographes signées, 17 octobre et 21 novembre 1933. 2 pages et demie et 2 pages in-4 (270 x 210 mm). Intéressantes lettres sur la préparation d’une exposition à Milan, couplée d'une tournée de conférences. Léger propose une intervention de 40 minutes sur la peinture et "l’objectivité picturale", une causerie et une présentation de son Ballet mécanique, "premier film sans scénario" réalisé en 1924, et enfin une présentation du court-métrage de Man Ray, Étoile de mer. Il demande combien de tableaux et dessins pourront être montrés, combien de villes seraient susceptibles d'accueillir ses conférences et dans quelles conditions financières, quels genres de cadres pourraient être fabriqués sur place, etc. Il envoie ses amitiés à Carlo Carrà, et a demandé à Maurice Raynal un article pour la revue milanaise Quadrante de Bardi.

Livres et Manuscrits des XIX & XXe siècles (lot 99 à 171) LÉGER, FERNAND Notes autobiographiques et lettre autographe signée à une critique d'art. Sans date et 31 août 1951. À PROPOS DE SON PARCOURS ET DE SES ŒUVRES. 3 pages in-8 (224 x 154 mm) sur papier ligné et 2 pages ½ in-8 (218 x 133 mm) sur deux feuillets de papier bleu. Lettre signée de ses initiales. Léger dresse une liste de ses réalisations les plus emblématiques, de celles pour les Ballets Suédois dont Skating Rink en 1924 à la série des Constructeurs en 1950 : décors de théâtre ou pour des ballets, peintures murales, sculptures polychromes, collaboration à des édifices religieux. Dans la lettre datée de 1951, et probablement adressée à une critique d’art, il apporte quelques précisions sur son travail artistique : la peinture murale réalisée pour Le Palais de la Découverte s’intitule Transport des forces, et c’est à New York, en 1943, qu’il a commencé la sculpto-peinture, notamment avec Mary Callery. "Aussi comme dispositif général de ma conception de la peinture moderne c’est l’abandon de l’atmosphère mélodieuse (impressionnisme) pour apporter la constructivité par l’opposition des contrastes, ce qui est absolument en liaison avec notre vie moderne très contrastée". Il suggère de faire faire des photographies de son tableau Les Deux Sœurs et ajoute qu’il cherche à joindre la fille de Chagall, Ida, à propos de connaissances new-yorkaises.
