Kirchner hired Hillmann straight out of art school and afforded him incredible freedom to promote the international arthouse classics he distributed in whichever way he chose. This resulted in an impressive body of work and some truly inspiring designs for landmark films such as Akira Kurosawa’s The Seven Samurai and Robert Bresson’s Pickpocket.
