In this version, after the witches are defeated, he and his grandmother use the Grand High Witch’s machine to find and eliminate witches world-wide, accepting his short mouse life-span to continue the fight. This is a variation of the book’s original, darker ending, which differs from the happier conclusion of the 1990 movie adaptation.
