After 25 years of manual winding <a href="https://www.sothebys.com/en/buy/luxury/watches/watch/rolex?waysToBuy=buyNow" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Rolex</a> <a href="https://www.sothebys.com/en/buy/luxury/watches/watch/rolex?waysToBuy=buyNow&amp;Watch%20Model=Daytona" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Daytona</a>, introducing the automatic reference 16520 was the most important evolution in the history of the celebrated model. The watch was completely redesigned and was fitted with the new caliber 4030 based on the Zenith El Primero. Even if the 16520 was produced for only a dozen years, the model saw several developments, mainly consisting in the layout of the dial. In fact, five different changes have been identified. The present yellow gold example, reference 16528, is sure to prove extremely attractive to discerning collectors. Featuring a very strong case with crisp hallmarks, it comes fitted with a Mk. 3 dial, as can be seen by the presence of “Officially Certified” text in combination with “inverted 6” in the bottom sub dial. This is the last of the early dial configuration of Zenith <a href="https://www.sothebys.com/en/buy/luxury/watches/watch/rolex/daytona" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Daytonas</a>, before the “inverted 6” was flipped.
