each with a broad, rounded lower body tapering at the waist before rising to the compressed upper bulb below the surmounting register, rounded and with a scalloped rim, the top register with colorful C-scrolls and ruyi against a cobalt blue ground, the upper bulb centered with gilt characters Da Ji encircled by the 'Eight Daoist Emblems', the lower register centered by a lingzhi head-form gilt plaque inscribed with a poem and signed yuzhi shiju / Wang Jihua gongji with one seal, flanked by four of the Buddhist emblems on either side, all against a dense ground of scrolled clouds picked out in gilt and set on a bright blue ground, the reverse with a plain gilt surface and a single rectangular aperture, mounted on a gilt-bronze demilune base cast with bats and clouds in relief, further raised on a conforming bracket foot (2)

The Harry Garner Reticulated Vase

superbly potted with a pear-shaped body rising from a splayed foot to a tall waisted neck below an elaborately overhanging cusped ruyi collar at the rim, the neck flanked by a pair of gilt sinuous dragon handles and opulently decorated with three friezes divided by gilt bands, each frieze enclosing symmetrically arranged luxuriant flower garlands composed of stylised blooms and Rococo-inspired whimsical undulating acanthus leaves with feathery fronds, all against a rich puce ground picked out with scrollwork rendered with needle-fine sgraffiato engraving, the puce-ground floral design meticulously repeated along the lower body and foot, the prominent and rounded lower section of the body ingeniously modelled with a celadon-reticulated wall of interlaced dragons, interspersed with archaistic bird and bat-like motifs, all emphasised with gilt borders, the intricately carved wall revealing an inner vase decorated in shaded tones of cobalt blue with nine succulent peaches borne on leafy branches, all between lime-green bands of detached florets flanked by scrolling foliage encircling the ruyi collar at the rim and the foot, the base enamelled turquoise and centred with an underglaze-blue six-character seal mark reserved in a white square

formed using the entire length of the horn in masterful fashion, the hornbase cut open and steamed upwards to form an arching 'bridge' over an evenly-symmetrical central bowl, its rounded walls formed from the opening of an axial slice, finely hollowed under the 'bridge' and leading back towards a lobed terminal cavity with foliated rim, and further channelled towards the horn-tip to form an elongated spout, with a flanking parallel section finely split and carved as a branching log section with finely formed gnarls, the exterior of the raft accented with burls and knots, and set upon rolling waves issuing from a pair of spiralling whirl-pools on the underside of the vessel with billowing crests breaking up the sides of the raft, the 'bridge' superbly pierced and carved with the small figure of Zhang Qian, as a bearded sage seated happily upon an arching branch of lush peony blooms, with one twisting branch crossing his chest and securing him in place while framing his profoundly joyful expression, the exterior of the foliated rear bowl of the raft finely carved with the inscription zai lai hua jia zi, and a combination of a circular and a square seal reading You and Yuyuan, all in stylised archaistic zhuanshu script

DESC-A rare dated Imperial inscribed zitan wall Panel Qing Dynasty, Qianlong, dated to 1779 of rectangular form, inlaid with various materials to depict scholars' objects reserved on an ochre lacquer ground, showing a jade brushpot full of implements above a cloisonne enamel basin with hardstone flowers beside a jade carving of a monkey riding a horse, in the centre an amethystine quartz coupe on a stand beneath a wooden prunus branch rising from a porcelain guan-glazed ovoid vase above a caparisoned jade elephant, all beneath five-coloured lacquer panels each carved with bats amidst clouds surrounding a central shou roundel, in the top right hand corner an incised seven-line inscription followed by the dating, finishing yu bi with the seals Qian and Long 108 by 71.5 cm., 42 1/2 by 28 1/4 in., condition report available It is rare to find a dated wall panel of this type. Compare two wall panels with related decoration, both from the Forbidden Palace in Beijing, illustrated in Wan Yi et al., Qingdai Gongting Shenghua, 1985, pl.175, hanging in the Yangxin Dian ('Palace for Nurturing the Mind') and pl.369. Another related wall panel was sold in these rooms, 5th November, 1996, lot 1002.

superbly potted with a baluster body rising from a countersunk base to a tall waisted neck and galleried rim, the neck meticulously and elaborately decorated with a pendent ruyi border shaded in tones of grisaille, the border rendered suspending pearl strings whimsically enamelled with reflecting highlights to simulate three-dimensionality, depicted attached with auspicious emblems, including the 'double fish', 'good luck' talismans and musical stones, as well as stylised luxuriant floral blooms and Rococo-inspired undulating acanthus leaves with feathery fronds, all against a brilliant yellow ground neatly diapered with twelve-sided polygons, the lower section of the body ingeniously modelled with a celadon-reticulated wall of kui dragons and archaistic phoenix emphasised with gilt borders, framing four evenly spaced gilt-rimmed medallions exceptionally carved in relief with dynamic scenes of different fishes, the celadon-glazed reticulated shell revealing an inner vase decorated in shaded tones of underglaze blue with a composite floral scroll reminiscent of early Ming blue and white porcelains, the lower section of the vase bordered with two green-ground bands enclosing iron-red kui dragons, above a yellow-ground frieze of an opulent composite floral scroll, all between two key-fret bands encircling the rim and foot, the base enamelled turquoise and centred with a blue-enamel six-character seal mark within a double square
