Three sepia-toned black and white photographs of Victorian cricket teams comprising: (i) the celebrated Hearne family of cricketers, dated 1888, by C. Eden of Ealing, with printed player legend; (ii) the South of England side (v. Australia, 1893), by G.W. Bradshaw of Hastings; (iii) and another South of England side inscribed v. Australia, 1896, by G. Churchill of Eastbourne, all mounted, framed and glazed the largest image 23.5 by 28cm., 9 1/4 by 11in. The Hearne family of Middlesex and Kent produced no less than eleven cricketers who played first-class cricket. Namely, Thomas (b.1826, Middlesex), George (b.1829, Middlesex), Thomas jnr (b.1863, Kent & England), Frank (b.1858, Kent, England & South Africa), George Francis (b.1851, M.C.C.), George Gibbons (b.1856, Kent & England), Herbert (b.1862, Kent), John (b.1867, Middlesex & England), Thomas (b.1887, Middlesex), Walter (b.1864, Kent) and George Alfred (b.1888, Western Province & South Africa). The 1893 South of England side comprised: Grace, Stoddart, Ferris, Hewett, A. Hearne, Read, Tindall, Lockwood, J.T. Hearne, Wickham and Richardson. The 1896 team appears to be misidentified by the inscription (v. Australia), as the photographic team line-up does not conform to the side listed in Wisden.

Celtic Swing: a commemorative ashtray in the form of a circular onyx ashtray mounted with a Celtic Swing racing plate silvered by Francis Howard Ltd (the Sheffield Silversmiths) and plaque inscribed celtic swing, in original fitted box 15cm., 6in. diameter This was donated by the French Derby winner's trainer Lady Herries for an auction in conjunction with Graham Cowdrey's Benefit Season at Kent C.C.C., where it was purchased by the current vendor.

[Vere Hodgson], carved bone handle (2) The first crop in this lot originally belonged to Colonel Frankie Sitwell, related to the famous twentieth century literary family - Dame Edith, Sir Osbert and Sir Sacheverell. It was later presented to Mrs Frere Hodgson.
