John (Puck) Proctor was mentioned as an artist approached by Dodgson to illustrate Through the Looking-Glass after Tenniel's initial refusal (he finally relented). There is a letter from Proctor to Dodgson (Carroll) turning down the offer in the Dodgson Family archives.
