About the Museum

The Worcester Art Museum, which opened to the public in 1898, is world renowned for its 35,000+ piece collection of paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, photography, prints, drawings, and new media.
The collection includes works of art dating from antiquity to the present day ans representing cultures from all over the world. WAM ranks among the more important museums of its kinda. The collection includes some of the finest Roman mosaics in the United States, European and American art, and a large collection of Japanese prints. Works by prominent European artists such as Vincent Van Gogh, Amedeo Modigliani, and Rembrandt van Rijn.
Since acquiring a private collection in 2013, WAM is home to the second largest collection of arms & armor in America.
