Boundary-pushing arts laboratory
WIELS Contemporary Art Centre hosts temporary exhibitions of contemporary art by established and emerging artists. It serves as a vibrant platform for creativity and dialogue, offering a wide-ranging program of public events and an international artist residency. Under the artistic direction of Dirk Snauwaert, WIELS has presented exhibitions by prominent Belgian and international artists including Anne-Mie Van Kerckhoven, Bruno Serralongue, Luc Tuymans, Andro Wekua and Francis Alÿs, alongside a number of important group shows. The center is housed in a modernist former brewery designed by celebrated Belgian architect Adrien Blomme in the 1930s, located in the heart of Brussels.
