Arts of Asia

1 October 2017–1 October 2020

Exhibition Overview

One of the most exceptional collections of Asian art in North America will take center stage when Arts of Asia reopens at the Walters on Sunday, October 1. Highlighting the artistic traditions of diverse cultural regions, this new installation brings together a stunning array of objects from India, Nepal, Tibet, China, Korea, Japan, Myanmar, Thailand, and Cambodia. At its heart is the John and Berthe Ford Gallery, featuring the art of India, Nepal, and Tibet.

Many of the works have come to the Walters as gifts from generous collectors, including John and Berthe Ford, Alexander Brown Griswold, Doris Duke, and Betsy and Robert Feinberg. Curated by Amy Landau, Director of Curatorial Affairs and Curator of Islamic and South & Southeast Asian Art.
