About the Museum
The Serralves Foundation aims to raise awareness of contemporary art and architecture within the context of landscape and key societal issues by pervading knowledge of the present and the future to a wide audience. A multidisciplinary cultural project with international recognition, the Foundation features the Serralves Villa, the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Serralves Park, jointly classified in 2012 as a National Monument. The Álvaro Siza-designed Museum harmoniously integrates with the urban surroundings and pre-existing Villa and Park to flexibly and responsibly present contemporary art, and hopes to promote diversity and awareness.
