Rahmi M. Koç Museum

Istanbul | Turkey

Eclectic artefacts from Istanbul’s industrial past

The Rahmi M. Koç Museum is Turkey’s first major institution dedicated to the history of transportation, industry and communication. Opened in 1994 by Rahmi M. Koç, the museum was inspired by his visit to the Henry Ford Museum in Michigan. Spanning 27,000 square meters across three historic buildings, it stands as a tribute to the skill, ingenuity and aesthetic sensibility of human artisans and engineers. The museum’s varied collection includes road, rail and marine transport; aviation; models and toys; scientific instruments; and engineering marvels, featuring mint-condition classic cars, historic trams, steam boats and naval submarines.
