About the Museum

Quinta de Anauco is home to the Colonial Art Museum of Caracas in Venezuela. The museum exhibits objects and artifacts from the colonial era, educating the public on the history of colonial Venezuelan daily life. Quinta de Anauco was built in the 18th century as a vacation home for a wealthy Venezuelan family. The permanent collection includes 100 paintings and sculptures and more than 200 furniture and objects. The building has been restored over the years to preserve its historic architecture, which includes cane ceilings and iron windows typical of the period. Visitors can also walk through a garden with cobbled walkways. The house was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1978.
