Norton Museum of Art

West Palm Beach, Florida | United States

Florida’s largest art museum

Founded in 1941 by industrialist Ralph Hubbard Norton and his wife, Elizabeth, this museum in West Palm Beach was created to share the couple’s personal art collection with the local community. It is now internationally recognized for its comprehensive collection of more than 7,000 works, including European impressionist and modern masters, and American art from 1900 to the present. The Chinese collection offers superb examples of carved jade and bronze vessels, while the contemporary collection embraces art beginning in the 1960s. In addition, many historically important figures are featured in its extensive photography holdings. In 2019, the museum opened a comprehensive expansion designed by Foster + Partners and introduced a sculpture garden featuring works by Keith Haring and Jenny Holzer and Fernand Léger, among others.
