National Planetarium of Malaysia

The National Planetarium of Malaysia is housed in a blue-domed building that sits atop a hill in the Lake Gardens in Kuala Lumpur. Construction of the building started in 1990 and was completed in 1993. The planetarium is managed by the Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment. It is connected to both the National Museum of Malaysia and a space theme park.

The nearly 120,000 square foot complex houses permanent exhibitions relating to space science. Its collection includes an Arianne IV space engine, which was used to launch MEASAT 1, Malaysia’s first satellite that was sent to space. The observatory has a 14-inch telescope. One of the main attractions is the space theater.
