About the Museum
MARCO is one of the leading cultural centers in Latin America whose efforts have been directed toward promoting international contemporary art. MARCO opened to the public in 1991 and since then has presented the work of some of the most prestigious contemporary artists in the world including Fernando Botero, Frida Kahlo, Antony Gormley, Rom Mueck, Otto Dix, and Vik Muniz, among others. It is also known for its strong exhibition programme. The museum's permanent collection reflects one of the museum's objectives: to promote international contemporary art with an emphasis on Latin America and Mexico. It consists of almost 180 works; most of them are donations by artists who have participated in past exhibitions.
