About the Museum

Among the world’s youngest museums, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Buenos Aires (MACBA) opened to the public in September 2012. However, its history dates back 30 years, when Aldo Rubino began the collection the museum now presents. MACBA is intended as a forum for reflection on different trends in contemporary art. Geometric abstraction is a particularly important focus; one of the institution’s central goals is to study, enhance and contextualise that movement, which is of great international and local significance.
