Founded in 1949, the Casa de Yrurtia Museum preserves and exhibits the artistic legacies of the sculptor Rogelio Yrurtia and the painter Lía Correa Morales, two significant Argentine artists in the early twentieth century. The artists donated their house with furniture and works of art to the government. The museum’s collection highlights the work of both artists, including sculptures, bronze portraits, sketches and studies for major works. In addition, the museum exhibits work by other artists that were collected during Yrutia’s travels, including work byÁngel Della Valle, Martín Malharro, Eduardo Sívori, Benito Quinquela Martín, Julia Wernicke, among others. The museum houses a library that holds 1,400 volumes on philosophy, visual art, geography and art history.
