About the Museum
The Musée Historique de Strasbourg (Historical Museum of Strasbourg) picks up on the city's history where the Musée Archeologique leaves off: it presents the political, economic, and social history of Strasbourg from the early Middle Ages through the contemporary period. The collection of over 200,000 items includes paintings, sculptures, clothing, and armor, of which a fraction are displayed. It is located in a Renaissance building that once served as a slaughterhouse and features interactive exhibits that present the collection in a stage-like setting, creating specific visual environments and contexts related to the historical evolution of the city. Free audio guides are available in French, German, and English.
