About the Museum
The Musée des Arts Décoratifs et du Design de Bordeaux (the Bordeaux Museum of Design and the Decorative Arts, or madd-bordeaux) is housed in a historic townhouse dating from the late 18th century. The building is preserved in the style of a family home and the museum’s collection features furniture and decorative objects from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. In addition to its permanent collection, the museum also offers a dynamic program of temporary exhibitions on decorative arts and design. In 2018, the building was classified as a historic monument by the Ministry of Culture. The museum is also home to a research library that holds more than 8,000 publications that cover a wide range of topics in art history and the decorative arts.
