Lugano Arte e Cultura

LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura is a cultural institution that is dedicated to the visual arts, music and the performing arts. It aims to become one of Switzerland’s most important cultural institutions, and promotes a wide range of art. It is the home for the new Museo d'Arte della Svizzera italiana (Art Museum of Italian Switzerland), formed by the amalgamation of the Cantonal Art Museum and the Art Museum of the City of Lugano. It also holds the collections of the City of Lugano and the Canton Ticino, and presents temporary exhibitions. There is also a 1,000 seat theater that is designed to host a variety of performances and concerts.

It hopes to establish Lugano as a cultural crossroads between northern and southern Europe, and bring together the public with private institutions around the world. The striking building sits along the lake was designed by Ivano Gianola and inaugurated in 2015.
