La Galerie Dior

Paris | France

 The history of Dior, from Christian Dior to Jonathan Anderson

Housed in Maison Dior’s storied address, 30 Avenue Montaigne in Paris, La Galerie Dior showcases the history of the legendary fashion house across 13 immersive galleries. Presenting a unique scenographic narrative, this popular museum captures the spirit of Parisian haute couture through Dior’s many eras, displaying archival looks, original sketches, photographs and documents from Christian Dior to former creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri. Twice a year, La Galerie Dior restages its permanent collection, usually organized around specific themes.

The current display, inaugurated on 21 May, presents a retrospective of nearly 150 models, alongside sketches, documents and photographs. For the first time, one of the 13 galleries showcases Dior’s close affinity with dance, a major source of inspiration, presenting Dior’s costumes for the ballet “Treize Danses.” Other galleries consider the house’s fascination with gardens and balls, as well as its masterful haute couture ateliers.
