About the Museum
The Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (HCCC) opened in September 2001 and is one of the only nonprofit arts organizations in the country that is dedicated to the art of craft. It exhibits works that are made from clay, fiber, glass, metal, and found items – materials that are seen as primarily craft materials. It aims to advance education about the product, process and history of craft.
The space provides retail and studio space for local and national craft artists. The Artist Hall houses their artists-in-residence, who are selected from across the country to work and share their love of craft. Asher Gallery is their retail space that offers unique gifts from artists around the country. Education is an important part of their mission, and they reach thousands of children a year through their programming.
