About the Museum

The Guyana National Museum is an educational institution that focuses the natural and social history of Guyana through informational exhibits and artifacts. Collection holdings include flora and fauna specimens, precious stones and geological artifacts, archaeological objects, and Amerindian arts and crafts. The museum was officially established in 1868, and has operated out of its current building since 1951.
