Vibrant platform for contemporary vanguard
Founded in 1996, Fundación Proa is a private center for arts and culture in Buenos Aires. It is housed in a repurposed 19th-century Italian mansion in the La Boca neighborhood, an area on the outskirts of the city known for its picturesque streets and history as an artists’ colony. Proa’s galleries display a permanent collection of modern and contemporary art across media, including photography, video, design and electronic music, alongside an impressive program of temporary exhibitions, seminars, courses, conferences, community education and concerts. Some of the world’s leading artists have been invited to exhibit at the museum, especially those who push political, social, or technological boundaries, such as Ai Weiwei, Kazimir Malevich, Louise Bourgeois, Mona Hatoum and Jeremy Deller.
