A museum-quality private collection

Opened to the public in 2014, the Fondation Louis Vuitton is a private art museum and houses the contemporary collection of LVMH chief executive Bernard Arnault. The building, with its striking glass “sails”, was designed by Frank Gehry and stands in the historic Bois de Boulogne, a public park since the 19th century. While there is not a permanent collection on display, the Fondation’s exhibition program comprises shows centered around both Arnault’s collection and international loans, bringing together some of the finest works of art from the past 200 years. Alongside exhibitions, the Fondation Louis Vuitton runs a series of workshops dedicated to music and dance, with live performances held in the purpose-built 1000-capacity auditorium.
