About the Museum

The Calcografia Nacional was created in 1789 to undertake important engraving projects. It brings together an extraordinary set of plates engraved by the most significant Spanish artists, forming one of the largest and best collections of chalcographic matrices in the world. Its main treasure is copper plates etched by Francisco de Goya, masterpieces of the universal history of engraving.
