East meets West in an art deco gem
After extensively renovating the Villa Empain, the Boghossian Foundation opened a cultural center and exhibition space in 2010. The mansion has long been a landmark of Brussels’s art deco architectural heritage: originally designed in 1930 by Swiss architect Michel Polak, it has served various functions over the years, including as a museum and embassy. Robert Boghossian and his sons, jewelers of Armenian-Lebanese descent, established the foundation to foster artistic dialogue across cultures, and the center hosts an artist residency and a rich artistic program with year-round activities, including exhibitions, concerts, lectures and workshops for kids. Nestled amid a serene garden and swimming pool, the villa offers a tranquil retreat in the heart of Brussels.
