About the Museum

The Blaffer Art Museum was founded in 1973 and is located on the central campus of the University of Houston. It aims to use exhibitions, publications and public program to further the study of contemporary art. Its exhibitions are free and open to the public in order to foster dialogue and participation in contemporary culture and appreciation for the visual arts. It exhibits six to eight shows a year with works by national and international artists, as well as students. Highlights of their permanent collection include Andy Warhol photographs. It was named in honor of Sarah Campbell Blaffer, a Houston art collector and philanthropist.
