About the Museum

The Aurora Museum was founded by Aurora Group chairman Chen Yong-Tai to help launch his cultural philanthropic program. Located on the banks of the Huangpu River, the six-storey building was designed by world-renowned architect Tadao Ando, and is a cultural jewel. The collection focuses on Chinese antiquities, and includes thousands of pieces of jade objects, Buddhist images, ceramics, porcelains and illustrated stones. Advocating the study of antiquities through analysis of “material, method, shape and decoration," this museum invites its visitors to more deeply appreciate exquisite ancient artifacts.
