About the Museum
The Antikenmuseum Basel and Sammlung Ludwig presents 5,000 years of culture from the Mediterranean world. The collection focuses on sculpture from Egypt, the Near East, Greece and Italy from 4,000 BC to AD 400. The Museum sees the ancient world as the foundation and inspiration for the present-day. In its special exhibitions and programmes, ancient civilizations come to life. In dialogue with its visitors, the Museum makes connections across epochs and cultures. The Museum is a service-oriented platform – open to partnerships of all kinds. Here, visitors will find the Antikenmuseum Basel and the Sammlung Ludwig in Basel’s city centre, while the Museum's second site, the Skulpturhalle Basel, is close to Basel University.
