About the Museum
Based in the Buffalo cultural district, the Albright-Knox has been dedicated to exhibiting contemporary art for over 150 years. As a result the collection features works by the leading names of the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries spanning from Impressionism to Post-Modernism. The museum includes a strong selection of post-war American art with masterpieces by Willem de Kooning, Helen Frankenthaler, Roy Lichtenstein, Jackson Pollock and Andy Warhol among others, as well 100 sculptures by Marisol who bequeathed her estate to the museum in 2016. Continuing the tradition of working directly with living artists, the Albright-Knox has recently acquired works by figures at the cutting-edge of the contemporary art scene, from Kara Walker and Mark Bradford to Matthew Barney and Rachel Whiteread.
