About the Museum

Split between the New Masters Gallery and the Sculpture Collection, the Albertinum is Dresden’s leading museum for art from the Romantic period to the present day. The painting collection ranges from masterpieces by Caspar David Friedrich to Gerhard Richter while the sculpture display begins with Rodin. The museum is based in the city’s old arsenal, built during the Renaissance in the Tuscan style. Today it features many glass fronted storerooms giving visitors a unique insight into the workings of the museum and its extensive permanent collection.
