Free Arts Youth Showcase

Online • July 20 - August 31 2020

F ree Arts NYC is dedicated to supporting and showcasing the next great generation of young artists. Our mission is to empower youth from underserved communities through 1:1 art and mentoring programs to develop their creativity, confidence, and skills to succeed.

Art is an inspiring outlet that builds resiliency and helps children cope with challenging circumstances like we face today. The healthy escape art-making provides should be accessible to all; Free Arts NYC is striving to make that happen.

As an immediate response to COVID-19, we committed to providing art supplies and engaging activity packets to over 2,000 children and families at 14 New York City transitional housing facilities and partner sites. We have ensured more than 75 teens in the Teen Arts Program are staying connected with their mentors through virtual lesson plans, workshops, and studio visits. This summer we are providing paid internships and digital literacy workshops.

We are grateful for Sotheby’s support as our host for the second year. A core pillar of our programs is to address the lack of diversity in the arts by providing opportunities into a wide variety of creative paths for our talented young people. The pride our youth gain by showcasing their work at such an esteemed cultural institution is unparalleled, helping them build confidence as they begin navigating their professional careers.
