S otheby’s is delighted to announce our newest partnership with The Dalmore Distillery - The Dalmore Decades: 1951 to 2000. This is the only full Decades Collection containing all 6 bottles that will be available for sale.

The Decades No. 6 Collection, The Dalmore’s latest release, encapsulates sixty years of whisky making at the distillery, a true masterpiece of time. This partnership between Sotheby’s and The Dalmore is the only chance to purchase the full six bottle set, including the coveted 1951 vintage, one of its kind and unique to this collection.

This one of a kind set of six Decades single malts from 1951, 1967, 1979, 1980, 1995 and 2000, are the personal selection of master distiller Richard Paterson. The six crystal decanters each feature bespoke silver collars unique to this collection. Each decanter comes displayed on a bespoke display pedestal topped with black oak, once more unique to this collection.

Each whisky draws upon different influences of The Dalmore and highlights a significant moment in the brand’s history beginning from 1951, the last whisky created during the Mackenzie era, the family whose heritage allows The Dalmore to display the 12-point Royal stag on every bottle.

Each decanter tells a magnificent story of the Highland Single Malt maker’s relentless pursuit of excellence through six decades and the set offers a once in a lifetime opportunity to own the complete collection.

The Dalmore 60 Year Old Royal Heritage 42.6 abv 1951

Initially aged in twin refill oloroso Sherry casks, Casks #1781 and #1782 were distilled on the same day in June 1951. This is a one of a kind decanter and represents the only opportunity to purchase this bottle.
The Dalmore 53 Year Old Expertly Composed Spirit 42.5 abv 1967

It began its life in February 1967 in American white oak ex-Bourbon barrels. The whisky was then transferred to a specially selected 20 year old Graham’s Tawny Port Pipe before ending its maturation in a barrique previously used to age Châteauneuf-du-Pape from acclaimed winery Château Mont-Redon.
The Dalmore 40 Year Old Curating Exquisite Casks 41.5 abv 1979

This whisky was aged in American white oak ex-Bourbon casks in October 1979 before maturation in a Matusalem Oloroso Sherry butt from acclaimed sherry producers, González Byass. It ended its journey in an exceptionally rare Graham’s vintage Port Pipe from 1952 - a year of post-war austerity when only tiny quantities of vintage Port were made.
The Dalmore 40 Year Old Unbroken Chain of Visionaries 40.8 abv 1980

As with many whiskies from The Dalmore, this began its journey in American white oak ex-Bourbon casks and was then transferred to Matusalem Sherry butts before returning to first-fill ex-Bourbon casks for five years before bottling.
The Dalmore 25 Year Old Creation of an Icon 42.5 abv 1995

Aged initially in ex-Bourbon casks, the whisky was then transferred into a Graham’s vintage Port Pipe from 1994 - an excellent, opulent year that was widely declared - before spending more than five years in a barrique used to mature Tintilla de Rota, sweet fortified wine from southern Spain, much celebrated and sold to the Spanish royal family in the 19th century, but then all but forgotten before its revival by González Byass.
The Dalmore 20 Year Old Into the New Millennium 47.0 abv 2000

Using the first spirit run made just after midnight on 1^st January 2000, this whisky spent its entire 20 years in a Matusalem Oloroso Sherry butt.
A percentage of the proceeds from the auction will be donated to the V&A Museum in Dundee.
