April—May 2025 | Hong Kong

T his spring, Sotheby’s Hong Kong is pleased to present a bespoke curation of British designer Hannah Martin’s jewellery collections – available for purchase at our Salon for a limited time only.

Launching exclusively at Sotheby’s Hong Kong is the collection A Vanitas Stoned, an extension to the original, highly sought-after collection created by Hannah Martin in close collaboration with Guy Berryman, founder of fashion label APPLIED ART FORMS. A Vanitas Stoned sees the addition of deep blue sapphires, a special nod to the piece that brought Hannah and Guy serendipitously together – a studded Sapphire hoop earring.

The capsule showcase also includes iconic creations from the 11-piece A Vanitas collection, and Martin’s tenth collection, The Perfect Drug.

Using the same design language that has made her one of the most distinctive voices in jewellery for almost two decades, Martin reinforces her signature rebel aesthetic with The Perfect Drug – a collection that is radical yet wearable, provocative yet true to her values of flawless craftsmanship. Whether it be the surge of adrenalin at a music concert or the awe-inspiring appearance of the sun on a new day, The Perfect Drug is a pledge to experiencing raw emotion and living life to its fullest.

In addition, Sotheby’s Salon will also offer creations from Hannah Martin’s core collections, including the beautifully sculptural Ring of Fire from her White Heat collection, emerald-set pieces from her Delirium collection, and other select pieces from Somebody's Sins, Aguila Dorada, It's only Rock n Roll, among others.

A Vanitas Collection

A Vanitas is a collection of unisex, heirloom-quality jewellery which unites two brands and the distinct identities of their founders.

Guy Berryman, founder of fashion label APPLIED ART FORMS, and jeweller Hannah Martin, announced their first collaboration of fine jewellery which was launched in November 2023.

The two creatives met by chance on a Los Angeles to London flight when Martin spotted Berryman’s earring as one of her earliest creations. It just so happened that Berryman was planning a foray into jewellery for his contemporary clothing brand at the time.

That moment of fate has led to A Vanitas, a collaboration borne out of a mutual respect for elevated design and meticulous craftsmanship.

The Perfect Drug Collection

Inspired by love and heartbreak, The Perfect Drug is a call to arms to live in the moment, to savour the senses, to feel the full spectrum of life.

Marking Martin’s tenth collection since she launched her eponymous brand in 2006, the 26-piece collection rejects a world numbed by distraction, whether it be from screens, substance abuse or the overwhelming pace of modern life, and awakens the senses through texture, movement, sensuality and Martin’s signature boldness of expression. Imbued with the designer’s rebellious spirit, it breaks the monotony of a life lived in monochrome, flashing her signature rich 18 carat yellow gold amid an austere palette of steel grey diamonds, 18 carat white gold, sterling silver and ebony.

About Hannah Martin

H annah Martin was born in the UK in 1980, at a time when England was being convulsed by a social, cultural and political counter-revolution and new wave music emerged in the wake of post-punk.

After two decades of feeling the volatile pulses of the country's heartbeat, Hannah moved to London to study jewellery design at Central Saint Martins, and immerse herself in its cultural and sonic riches. Soon after graduating, she moved to Paris to work at the jewellery benches of Cartier on Place Vendôme.

Empowered with finely tuned, high jewellery making skills, she returned to her cultural home of London and founded the eponymous brand in 2006.

The references found in Hannah Martin jewellery come from an insatiable appetite to experience, from the atmosphere in the rooms of live music venues and the youth culture soaking it up. Feelings of elation, excitement, pleasure, restraint, awe and revelation, all feed her imagination and inform her work.

Hannah's designs are characterised by fluid, gender nonspecific sculptural forms of emotion, bathed in an unapologetic undertone.

The demand for Hannah's aesthetic has led to commissions to create complete fine and high jewellery collections for Louis Vuitton and Chaumet, and a fine jewellery collection for Francesca Amfitheatrof.

Hannah Martin has created catwalk jewellery collections in collaboration with luxury clothing brands such as Martine Rose SS/9, Edward Crutchley AW/7 and Hussein Chalayan AW/2 & SS/3.

Beyond jewellery, Hannah has designed medals for The London Design Festival, cocktail sets for Grey Goose Vodka and hand-blown glass hip flasks for Hendricks Gin.

Available worldwide, Hannah Martin jewellery has become best known for the collections Vincent, Somebody's Sins, Aguila Dorada, and It's Only Rock n Roll, and is treasured by musicians, authors and designers such as Madonna, Daisy Lowe, Rihanna, Joanna Trollope, Cara Delevigne, Erin O'Conner, Zaha Hadid, Morrissey and Olivier Rousteing.
