Sotheby’s is the only international auction house to have held three hugely successful single-owner sales of Czech modern art. Works from the Milan Heidenreich collection were sold in 1997 and 1998; the record-breaking sale of the Hascoe Family Collection of Modern Czech Art was held in June 2011; and in 2014 we offered Czech Avant Garde Art from the Collection of Roy and Mary Cullen. Czech works are offered regularly within the context of our European Paintings sales and our annual 20th Century Art – A Different Perspective sales.

Sotheby’s has achieved world-record auction prices for works by Kupka, Capek, Filla, Foltyn, Kubista, Zrzavy, Gutfreund and Spala, among others.
