The Submariner 16800 was first introduced in 1979, replacing the 1680 and presenting a new generation of Submariner dive watches. The reference 1680 was the first Rolex Submariner to ever be featured with a date complication. Then the 16800 took the general date-displaying design of the reference 1680 and added a new movement and redesigned case and bezel to create a modern, advanced diving watch.
The watch is in overall good condition with light wear throughout commensurate with age. Case is in overall good condition with minor surface wear. Generic velcro strap and buckle has minor signs of surface wear. Scratch at bezel. Luminous on the dial and hands have aged to a warm yellow. The movement is running at the time of cataloging, however, it was not test for the accuracy of time of duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Please note that Sotheby's does not guarantee the future of working of the movement.
Fits a wrist size of 6.5 inches or smaller.
